Welcome back, SMCP!

After this period of confinement and slowdown in our activity, your dear SMCP Magazine is back in force with a Back to Work edition! We are entering a new phase: the gradual reopening of our stores around the world.

During the lockdown (if you weren’t working) you cooked, you sewed, you took care of yourself and your loved ones, took advantage of your yard and worked on your tan, discovered new passions, (re)started exercising, and, of course, applauded at your windows in the evening. Now it’s time to come back, stronger than ever! Your SMCP Magazine is here to bring you the latest updates and help kick off this new beginning!

Global News

1 - Gradual Reopening

To begin this May newsletter, we’d like to take a tour of our boutiques around the world.

In Asiaall our stores are open with the exceptions of Singapore and Australia, which remain partially closed.

Stores in Europe have been progressively reopening since the beginning of the month, starting with Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg, and Holland, followed by France and Belgium, and now Spain and Italy. As of May 22nd84% of our stores in France and 63% in Europe are open.

In the Middle Eastour stores are steadily reopening, particularly in the United Arab Emirates.

In the United States, stores will reopen gradually, beginning with Texas, Florida, and Nevada, which have reopened in the past few days

To date, in our Paris offices all who can work from home continue to do so until at least June 15th. There has been a slight return to work in the Brand offices, with a maximum occupancy of 35% in order to respect social distancing measures.

Our New York headquarters will remain closed until at least the end of June, and our American team members will continue to work from home.

2 – Launch of the 1st Live Stream on T-Mall

During this out of the ordinary period, our Brands took the opportunity to innovate new ways for interacting with customers, leading to the April launch of our first ever live stream event on T-Mall in China.

This new concept, based on traditional teleshopping, offers a more personalized at-home shopping experience. Local celebrities Linda Li and Yuyu Zhangzou helped spotlight pieces from Sandro’s and Maje’s SS20 collections.

In just five days, this digital event brought together more than 5 million fans of Sandro and Maje and helped increase Claudie Pierlot’s visibility in the Asian market.

3 – New MyLearning Training Modules

Resuming our activity means returning to the workplace as wellIn order for this to occur under the best possible conditions and because SMCP has always prioritized the health and safety of its employees, the My Learning team, along with the Brands and BUs, has developed some new training sessions for Europe and North America!

The following new modules, customized for each brand, can be found on your platforms:

  •  Barrier gestures module
  •  “How to wear your mask” module
  •  “How to organize your POS” module
  •  “Selling ceremony” module (customized by Brand) for receiving customers with these new measures

These training sessions contain numerous PDFs, videos, and FAQs.

All of this was produced in record time (1 week!) tsupport and reassure our retail teams and to emphasize the rules of physical distancing and barrier gestures at all our points of sale.

4 – Sandro supports We Give Collab

Sandro continues its commitment to help fight the Covid-19 crisis by supporting the @we_give_collab charity auction platform, taking part in a fundraiser for healthcare workers. 100% of the money raised is donated to the Greater Paris University Hospitals (AP-HP).

A few days ago, exclusive pieces from the Fall/Winter 2020 collections of Sandro and Sandro Homme were auctioned off to help We Give Collab.

Two new (not yet released!) pieces were offered: a shearling sheepskin jacket from the Men’s collection & a floral dress in linen and silk from the Women’s collection.

5 – French May event in Hong Kong

For 28 years, French May has been a platform for cultural exchange between Hong Kong, Macau, and France.

To celebrate this event, three of our French employees working at the Hong Kong office were invited to demonstrate their secret crepe recipes and their techniques for mastering crepe-making! Staff also learned about the food’s origins in Brittany and how traditional crepes are served.

The team kept in mind how important it is to continue to protect oneself during this period. With the help of some DIY experts from HR (and some colorful fabric to brighten everyone’s day!), staff also learned how to make their own masks.
