Good reading!

With the founders family’s historical attachment to Morocco, our Group is deeply affected by the critical situation that the Moroccan population has been facing at the beginning of September.

Very concerned about the health and safety of our employees and local partners, we are wholeheartedly with our Moroccan employees, or anyone else with relatives or friends directly affected by these terrible events.

In response to the emergency situation, the Group has decided to pursue its partnership with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) through a financial donation, in order to take concrete and immediate action in the areas affected by the earthquake.

Global News

1 –SMCP Greater China moves to its new office

SMCP Greater China has officially relocated its office to SUHE Centre on Aug 18, 2023, providing teams with a more pleasant working environment in Shanghai.

The design and layout of the new office are in line with the Group’s values, identity, and culture, particularly in terms of the materials used and the quality of working life, which encourages teamwork, well-being, and commitment.

Specific attention was given to limiting the environmental impact of the office: 89% of the equipment from the previous office was reused, store materials were transformed into tables and furniture, LED lighting was used, and materials and coatings had an environmental label, etc.

On quality of working life side, employees benefit from height-adjustable desks, a unwind and sports areas, open-plan offices that encourage collaborative working.

This new workplace is an important milestone for the SMCP teams in China, which will enable them to continue to make our Brands shine!

It’s also an opportunity for some members of our Paris management team – Isabelle Guichot (SMCP CEO), Patricia Huyghues Despointes (CEO), Aline Léger (Finance Transformation Projects Director) and Malika Landry (Group Management Control Director) to visit the teams on site and meet the people in the field!

2 – SMCP Retail Lab students learn about our Sustainability strategy

SMCP Retail Lab is SMCP’s training school whose first class started at the end of January 2023. The objective is to offer an innovative and certifying omnichannel training course for sales advisors. The course will take place over a year in the form of work-study programmes offered within our four brands. The programme has been designed around a tripartite organisation: firstly, it is based on a customised omnichannel training course in sales consultancy run by EMA SUP Paris; secondly, Institut Français de la Mode (the Paris Fashion School) will host several days on fashion culture and the new challenges of Sustainability; and thirdly, SMCP will be responsible for educating students throughout the year about the brands, their DNA, and their functioning.

Throughout the year, students attended various master classes led by the Group on different themes:

  • 1st: Presentation of the Group and its history
  • 2nd: Visual merchandising for each Brand
  • 3rd: Insights training
  • 4th: Group and Brands sustainability

On Monday September 18th, the SMCP Retail Lab held its 4th master class on the theme of “Group and Brands sustainability”.

The sustainability strategy was first presented to the students by Group’s representatives along with a focus on the sustainability strategy of our competitors and on our carbon footprint and objectives of reduction.

Then, students were explained the Sandro, Maje and Claudie Pierlot’s strategies. Indeed, although the Group’s sustainability strategy is common to all brands, each one implements specific projects in line with its own DNA.

3 – Volunteer competition continues in Asia!

Following last year’s success and enthusiasm, SMCP APAC relaunched the volunteer hours competition to motivate and engage everyone to give back to the community and make a difference.

The competition ended on August 31st with a total of 185.25 hours of volunteer hours with a total of 44 volunteers. This initiative created an opportunity for everyone to log volunteer hours to redeem inspiring experiences on SMCP x Time Auction Partnership platform.

Bravo for this initiative, to the teams who have been involved and especially to the team of Amy, Sophie, Jennie, Stephane and Dibbie who volunteered more than 61 hours over the period!

Creative Update

1 – SANDRO

SANDRO UNVEILS ITS FW23 CAMPAIGN

Connecting with reality is essential to SANDRO’s creative studios. The look is casual. Young people are once again in the spotlight, who fully embrace every moment of their lives. To echo this, a Fortune Cookie is offered to all our customers with their in-store and online purchases, enabling them in turn to share inspiring messages with those around them by means of a QR code.

For the Fall-Winter 2023 campaign, SANDRO displays are on the streets from Paris to London.

You can also find the Brand’s FW23 looks at the Globus pop-up in Geneva (from 09/04 to 09/16) or in the windows of NK in Stockholm (from 08/25 to 09/17).

2 – MAJE

  • Lila Moss is the New Face of Maje’s FW23 campaign

Inspired by the effervescence of London and the timelessness of British style, Maje highlights its new muse Lila Moss in a campaign infused with the cutting edge style only a true child of fashion could embody.

This season, Maje heads to London to capture the city’s radically cool atmosphere through Lila Moss, whose blond hair and rocker chick look makes her the new it-girl to watch. From the bustling streets of Soho to the hip cafés of Shoreditch, her oh-so-British allure melds perfectly with the Parisian brand’s effortless essence. Through the energy, looks, visuals, and attitude, the 20-year-old daringly takes on the anything-goes mental of the Maje girl, infusing it with the carefree attitude of today’s London.

From the photos to the campaign film, the vibe of the Fall-Winter 2023 collection was structured around Lila Moss and her unmistakable supermodel style.

  • The Miss M

A true fashion statement, the Miss M designed by Judith Milgrom encapsulates the cool spirit of Maje and is the it bag for the new generation.

Miss M is a fresh modern piece for the brand, and plays with the iconic codes of the classic M bag: rectangular leather handles, fringe and topstitching.

Versatile and youthful, Miss M fits any of the wearer’s needs, thanks to its adjustable shoulder strap (short or long, worn over the shoulder or crossbody).

Miss M is introduced in two sizes and in multiple materials – crackled or smooth leather and nylon – this latest Maje creation embodies the bag of a new generation of Maje girls. With its long strap adorned with eyelets, generous buckles at each end, or discreet piercing, Miss M is the trendy partner for confident girls out in the city.

Maje Girls are already wearing it!

3 – CLAUDIE PIERLOT

Launch of Fall-Winter 2023 campaign

Claudie Pierlot has launched its new campaign, inspired by Eric Rohmer’s film « Conte d’hiver » and brand founder Claudie Pierlot’s roots on the Ile de Ré. In the style of an old French film from the 70s, we follow Claudie Pierlot in her footsteps and in her daily life: here on the Ile de Ré. Details of action and moments follow the chronology of a typical winter day on the Ile de Ré. We glimpse iconic clothing cuts, Claudie Pierlot’s attitude, the environment of Ré and the Atlantic in winter.

Following the brand campaign, the lookbook for the FW23 collection was highlighted. Fall-Winter 2023 is synonymous with consistency: Claudie Pierlot’s wardrobe takes shape, made up of essential, timeless pieces, faithful to the brand’s codes. Inspired by the Ile de Ré and French cinema, life is sweet and salty, with variations in navy and ecru, polka dots revisited with the Claudie monogram, thicker or thinner knits, wrap dresses, pleated trench coats and more or less fluid suits. This mischievous, natural, almost cheeky spirit can be found throughout the season, on cavalier pieces, straight mini-skirts and checks of various sizes.

You can also find the campaign visuals highlighted on the Printemps arches in Paris (from 09/01 to 09/30).

4 – FURSAC

  • “Key Pieces” from the FW23 campaign

Fursac Creative Director Gauthier Borsarello approaches each collection like a journey, one that explores the cornerstones of the male wardrobe. Underpinned by studied references to French workwear and considered nods to regional styles, each collection showcases the country’s rich sartorial heritage. In keeping with the direction set by Borsarello three seasons ago, the Fall-Winter’23 collection takes us to The Alps and the soothing atmosphere of its heartwarming chalets. Through the lens of Thurstan Redding, the Fursac man exudes the elegant mystery of a daring spy, equally at home on the slopes as under urban skies.
