Global News

1 – SMCP now operates directly in the Australian & New Zealand markets

After an 8-year collaboration in Australia and 3 years in New Zealand with our local partner IFB, SMCP has decided to take the reins of these two markets starting in January 2023.

This is at the heart of the Group’s strategy, which will continue to focus on direct operations wherever possible. The Management Team is happy to join these two markets and their colleagues within the Group and remains convinced that there is great potential for the growth and development of Sandro, Maje, Claudie Pierlot and as well as Fursac tomorrow, in Australia and New Zealand.

SMCP Australia and SMCP New Zealand will be attached to our new APAC Business Unit, led by Stéphane Ledru.

2 – SMCP is even more committed to animal welfare!

The Group has made a strong statement with respect to its animal welfare policy. After ending the use of fur and exotic skins several years ago, we will also stop marketing any items containing down or feathers in our collections starting in fall-winter 2023.

3 –SMCP launches its academy “SMCP Retail Lab”

As you know, SMCP and its Brands have decided to take on quite the challenge by launching its training school, the SMCP Retail Lab.

The official launch took place yesterday in Paris, an event that brought together the project’s team & sponsors, especially Isabelle Guichot, Nathalie Malavoy & Elina Kousourna, the Brands, the partners and of course the students.

In order to constitute its team of future sales advisor graduates, candidates from all backgrounds were welcomed this month to the iconic Maje Showroom in Paris for an unique and friendly day of recruitment. The day was structured around playful workshops that made it possible to assess the participants’ motivation and fashion affinity.

Moreover, the store managers, who are the tutors, were invited to serve as evaluators at the recruitment event. Thanks to their commitment, care, and passion, and by placing candidates in fun and revealing situations, they were able to put participants at ease and focus on recruiting solely based on motivation and affinity for fashion.

We will show you a short video of this moment of sharing, full of energy and good cheer!

Next steps: the official launch of the training. Stay tuned!

With its “B” score on the CDP 2022 questionnaire, the Group was recognized for its transparency and performance on climate change and positioned itself among the most proactive companies in this area.

These results encourage us to continue and double down on our efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of our activities.

Creative Update

1 – SANDRO

  • Spring-Summer collection unveiled!

For the Spring-Summer 2023 collection, the SANDRO design studio has imagined the wardrobe of an urban hippie. No matter the era or the style, she mixes codes and influences unashamedly. Chic, cool, sexy, she is all at once; because for her, only the allure matters.

The SANDRO Homme silhouette has something distinctly more dressy about it. But it’s not stilted elegance. The SANDRO man wears single-breasted suits with open shirts. He wears them in pastel shades. On the feet, chic leather loafers instill the ease of casual chic. Openwork knitwear, sleek tank tops, flowing shirts, the wardrobe is infused with summer ease. Tobacco, brown, or beige, the colors are as patinated by salt and sun.

2 – MAJE

  • MAJE X GRLSWIRL

For summer 2023, Maje is flying to Los Angeles with la Semaine Online to meet GRLSWIRL an all-female skater community from Venice Beach.

Skateboarding isn’t just for men, every woman can do it: that’s the belief driving by the creator of the global GRLSWIRL movement, and her eight fellow co-founders. With its goal of getting women from all over the world on a skateboard, GRLSWIRL aims to empower them with love, support and the confidence to feel strong, powerful and free.

“When women get together and support each other, I think there’s nothing they can’t do.”

  • Lunar New Year x Jihayi Li

To celebrate The Year of the Rabbit, illustrator Jihayi Li @jiayillu brings Maje into the lifelike and poetic scenes of Chinese mythology and capture some spontaneous moments that occur during the celebration. With her own vision, she created strong vivid and creative images honoring the Year of The Rabbit.

Jihayi Li grew up in China and is now a Paris-based illustrator.

She is working publicly only for a year and has done artwork for different famous brands. Her colorful universe brings a modern and sexy touch to the promotion of the Lunar New Year collection.

3 – CLAUDIE PIERLOT

Parisian Wardrobe

The story of Claudie Pierlot is, first and foremost, one of allure, roots and a thoroughly Parisian style.

This season, the Brand has reinvented the wardrobe of a Parisian in need of timelessness and will guide you through its lessons on style.

4 – FURSAC

Autumn-winter 23 collection presentation

For their second season as part of the official Paris menswear fashion week, Fursac takes up residence in the illustrious Comédie Française theatre. With spotlights set on a crowd of Fursac stockman mannequins, each guest is given a free hand to direct their own show to the music of Ravel, Debussy and Fauré – all played by Gauthier Borsarello’s four brothers and sisters.

The Fursac Autumn-Winter 2023 menswear collection transports you from Paris to Les Arcs in the French alps. The elegance and panache of the city of lights is echoed by the nonchalant, laidback distinction of the slopes. From tailored suiting, stately overcoats, leather jackets and fitted polos to warming heavy knits, winter shirts and glacier sunglasses. Gliding effortlessly from paved streets to crisp snow, from sunrise to sunset.
