Global News

1 – Sandro ranks in CFX for more sustainable fashion

For the second year, the consulting firm Kearney publishes the Circular Fashion Index (CFX) which analyze more than 150 global brands that all aim to make their business more sustainable.

Seven evaluation criteria were selected to reflect the entire life cycle of the product, from its creation to its end of life.

Sandro was ranked 19th worldwide and 4th in France in 2022.

This result highlights the work carried out by the teams for several years on various subjects such as responsible materials, the extension of the life of products or their second life.

We are proud of this ranking even if we still have a long way to go in this race towards a more responsible fashion.

2 - FURSAC enters the Official Calendar of the Union Chamber of Men's Fashion

Sustainability Culture

1 – Feedback on the mobility survey

As part of the carbon footprint, you were asked to answer a mobility survey to find out more about your commuting to work habits.

We would like to thank you all warmly for your contribution!

It is now time to reveal the results:

  • You live on average between 25 and 30 km from your workplace.
  • Many of you use only one mode of transportation.
  • Your preferred modes of transportation are the subway, car (not electric) and train.

  • If we consider carbon emissions, the modes of transportation which emit the most for SMCP are first the car (non-electric), then the bus and finally the subway.
  • Although the car is used by less than 20% of our employees, this means of transportation represents 50% of our carbon emissions.
  • In total, in 2021, our employees’ commuting to and from work represented 5,000 tCO2, or 3% of our carbon footprint. This means that other emissions are much higher (production and transport of our clothes for example) and must be the subject of priority action plans.

We all have the power to reduce our CO2 consumption: for example, if 50% of employees who travel by car took public transport, we could reduce our emissions by 25%.

We can do more!

2 – Sandro Second Hand

Give a new life to Sandro collections with the second hand service.

A dedicated platform allowing Sandro customers to resell their pieces and buy their old favorites second hand (only available in France).

The commitment to a transition towards a more responsible, sustainable and circular fashion.

3 – Sandro North America get involved for Earth Day

On Earth Day, April 22, Sandro made a commitment to One Tree Planted. 100% of the day’s proceeds from the eco-responsible collection purchased online were donated to the association.

A total of 39 units of eco-responsible products were sold during the offer, representing an 86% increase in sales over the average.

A total of $9,285 was donated to the association, 9,285 trees will be planted in 150 national parks in the United States.

Customers were thanked and informed of the amount raised and of the actions put in place.

4 – SMCP Asia is committed to reforestation

SMCP Asia Regional office and Hong-Kong staff took part to a Forest Restoration Project with Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden using native species to increase the species diversity of the forest in Hong Kong.

18 of them successfully planted 50 shrub and tree seedlings this month. The high tree diversity is bringing back native insects, birds and some animals.

This meaningful project finished by a silence walk up to the peak of Kwun Yum Shan, a tranquil place with beautiful scenery.

Creative Update

1 – Garance Vallée for SANDRO

SANDRO & ART

Art is central to Sandro. For all the creative teams in the Paris studios, it is both a source of inspiration and an endless territory of expression. In return, it is essential for Sandro to use its spaces to display the talents it admires. Thus, the Parisian house has in the past invited numerous artists to express their universe in its windows, recently with Jason Glasser’s pop geometries and the delicacy of Yuko Nishikawa’s mobiles. By creating environments that reflect their aesthetic language, these artists have sublimated Sandro’s creations.

SANDRO X GARANCE VALLEE

Evelyne and Ilan Chetrite, founders and creative directors of Sandro, invite artist Garance Vallée to take over the windows for a new season.

Embodying a young generation of uninhibited eclecticism, Garance Vallée deploys an organic universe on all scales, heir to the total work of art, which she takes up in a broader and more contemporary sense. Her work is symbiotic, an organic fusion between the fields of architecture, art and design. Freeing herself from disciplinary boundaries, she manifests the need to place man at the centre of the world, but always in dialogue with nature. Her environments bear witness to the primordial importance she attaches to experimentation and the experience of the body in space. For her, drawing is as much model as sculpture, installation and even architecture. Her distinct aesthetic language is impregnated with references to both ancient and modernism, right up to the humanism of the 21st century. Right angles and curved lines become confused, disturbing our landmarks and our senses by playing with perspective.

For the Spring/Summer 2022 season, Garance Vallée has imagined a set of modules and architectures made of wood, plaster, steel and resin as ways of inhabiting the specific space of store windows, a place for both inside and outside, in dialogue with the new collections. For Evelyne and Ilan Chetrite, giving the keys to their windows is a way of demonstrating support for emerging artists and part of Sandro’s committed dialogue between fashion and contemporary creation.

2 – Summer Paradise – MAJE

There always comes a time, just before summer when sunbathing becomes very compelling, even necessary. We start dreaming, craving summer warmth, happiness, a sand coast on an azure sky. It’s vital, but not too serious.

The capsule collection settles in the stores from London to Milan via Paris, starfish and shells prints come to decorate the windows. What to imagine on a beach in laid-back mode?

3 – Take me to Nevada – CLAUDIE PIERLOT

TAKE ME TO NEVADA

At the height of summer, we escape to deserted lands looking for an oasis. An ode to life’s sweetness, to saturated colour, to the great American West and its wonderful landscapes. Our capsule collection takes you far away, where the sun shines much more brightly than anywhere else.

SUNNY SPICY COLOURS

Summer should be savoured like a colourful fruit with a subtly sweet taste. Blending papaya orange and pitaya pink, our capsule boasts shimmering, zingy shades as a backdrop for a seashell print. Vibrant whorls feature on pieces steeped in holiday colours. Available in a range of essentials for the warmer months, these are the summer pieces in which new beach memories will be made.

SWEET MEMORIES

When the sun is at its peak, we put on a patterned bucket hat, matching your blouse with puffed sleeves. Whether on the rocks or the plains, face the warm winds in a bikini with ultra-bright colours. With your head full of adventure memories, slip on a swirling dress to dance the night away as the sun sets over the mountains. The good news? It all starts again tomorrow.
