1 – Launch of our Group Code of Ethics by Daniel Lalonde, SMCP CEO

« I am proud to introduce our Code of Ethics which is the expression of the Group’s culture and of our values. It is our compass which should inspire our choices and guide our daily actions. We are all ambassadors of the Group and its global reach.  »

Daniel Lalonde,
CEO SMCP

The Group Code of Ethics is mainly intended to serve as a compass, a reference point, a guide that must inspire the daily actions expected by our employees and in their relations with all stakeholders, towards ever more ethical and responsible behavior.

“These values that make us who we are, as passionate and responsible entrepreneurs, careful about partnerships we build, the impact we have on the environment and the respect for others in their globality and diversity, are the cornerstone of our Code of Ethics, which is perfectly integrated into our Sustainability strategy.

We are counting on all of you to make it your own, to bring it to life, to embody it on a daily basis, and to make it followed by all stakeholders.”

You can find it on the World Intranet, on our website or by clicking here.

2 – Snoopy x Sandro

Snoopy and the Peanuts gang are taking center stage in Sandro’s new men’s capsule collection for Summer 21.

A capsule made of eight pieces featuring the designer M.Schulz’s comic strip art from the 60s, most of which is made from recycled materials, thus limiting the impact on the environment.

In boutiques windows, on social networks and on the website, the silhouettes of Snoopy and his sidekicks are taking over the 360° on a background of soft retro colors, with tender and humorous messages. A viral and disruptive communication and original pieces.

2 – Maje x Cobalto : ode to the White Island

1 year ago, Maje moved to Ibiza.

To celebrate this anniversary, Maje has designed a limited-edition capsule collection between land and sea, an ode to the Mediterranean, off the beaten path. The Spanish design studio, Cobalto Studio, has assisted in the artistic direction of this dream getaway to a southern island.

Various Spanish artists have developed a very limited-edition collection of handmade products: jewelry, ceramics, floral design. These pieces complement a Maje capsule collection, conceived as an ode to the White Island.

With this collaboration, Maje wanted to encapsulate the essence of Ibiza. To honor its know-how and capture its bohemian spirit, with the Mediterranean Sea spray as a backdrop.

4 – STORE, SWEET STORE for Claudie Pierlot in Shanghai

New concept, new energy, new architecture. Claudie Pierlot is unveiling a new store with an eco-friendly design approach and a fresh new architectural concept this April 2021 in Shanghai Grand Gateway.

In keeping with the FREE SPIRIT and Parisian essence of the brand, this new store opens out to the world around it. From the facade, wide openings allow natural light to penetrate to the stone-floored interior, between wood species and fabrics. Terrazzo flooring, raw wood and warm tones combine to create a unique feel and atmosphere, fully in keeping with Claudie Pierlot’s new look and transformation.

Both audacious and yet at the same time elegant, this new design celebrates the sense of Parisian FOLIE DOUCE so dear to the brand in its own unique way, with contrasting details in the form of textured walls painted with eco-labelled paint, geometric shapes, low-energy light bulbs and wavy surfaces.

A place dedicated to emotion, experiences and encounters, with its wooden furniture calling to mind second-hand items picked up in the South of France or even on the other side of the world, symbols of TRAVEL MEMORIES.

Sustainability Culture

What is Earth Day?

Earth Day 1970 gave a voice to an emerging public consciousness about the state of our planet.

In the decades leading up to the first Earth Day, Americans were consuming vast amounts of leaded gas through massive and inefficient automobiles. Industry belched out smoke and sludge with little fear of the consequences from either the law or bad press. Air pollution was commonly accepted as the smell of prosperity. Until this point, mainstream America remained largely oblivious to environmental concerns and how a polluted environment threatens human health.

However, the stage was set for change with the publication of Rachel Carson’s New York Times bestseller Silent Spring in 1962. The book represented a watershed moment, selling more than 500,000 copies in 24 countries as it raised public awareness and concern for living organisms, the environment and the inextricable links between pollution and public health.

The founder of this event was U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson. He encouraged students to start environmental awareness projects in their communities. Earth Day was first celebrated on April 22, 1970. Today, more than one billion people in 193 countries take action on Earth Day each year. Over the years, Earth Day has become the largest participatory environmental movement on the planet.

Earth Day is above all a daily, long-term commitment in all of our daily actions. Let’s take care of our planet together. Discover more about this special day here and all the actions you can do.

Thank to our SMCP North America Green Committee for sharing this information with us. ?

For this occasion, a small group of SMCP Asia volunteers cleaned up approximately 60kg of trash in an hour at Sandy Bay. Congratulations for this action! ?
